Lehi Block enjoys a large market in
architectural landscaping products for outdoor retaining walls and other
landscaping projects. Do-it-yourself projects such as landscape walls are
simplified by using Artstone Block. Strength and durability, plus low
maintenance, are key features of this block which produces beautiful results in
yards and other commercial projects.
The Bureau of Land Management is
using Artstone on a project in Flaming Gorge Dam.
Concrete pavers are popular for driveways
and walkways. Lehi Block's pavers are used at the Salt Palace, Snow Peak
Lodge in Deer Valley (with a snow-melt system), and BYU's football stadium.
Although the company ships its products to
other Western states, a 100-mile radius along the Wasatch front is Lehi Block's
largest market. Structures using their products are Steiner Aquatics at
the University of Utah., the former Osmond Studios in Orem, numerous Shopko,
K-Mart, and Wal-Mart stores in Utah, and many schools, churches, and commercial
buildings throughout the state. The building at nearby Thanksgiving Point,
the new environmental preserve, will be built of their specialty block.
Since 1945 Lehi Block has been a
member of the National Concrete Masonry Association. Both Mac and Terry
Powell are actively involved with N.C.M.A., and Terry serves as a National
Account Representative. Lehi Block is also active in the Utah Masonry
Council.
After experiencing the laborious work of operating his block
company during the first year or two, Art felt that perhaps five years might be
long enough to run his business. Long hours and hard work were required,
and competition was always keen. Little did he realize that Lehi Block
would be going strong after 50 years as a solid, successful family business.
